Soros Network Disburses Over $40 Million to Democratic Allies Ahead of Election Day

Tens of millions of dollars from the Soros family's political network are being directed towards Democratic campaigns and organizations as the election nears, according to campaign finance records. As of the end of June, Democracy PAC and Democracy PAC II, committees established and funded by the Soros network, had disbursed more than $40 million in donations to Democratic allies.

Among the prominent recipients of this funding are the Senate Majority PAC, House Majority PAC, and the J Street Action Fund. The Senate Majority PAC, which has received $9 million from the Soros-funded Democracy PAC this cycle, has committed $30 million to support the Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.

El-Sayed, who has made campaign finance reform a central theme of his Senate campaign, is also indirectly benefiting from Soros-linked money through outside Democratic groups involved in the Michigan Senate race. In past statements, El-Sayed has criticized what he calls the "fundamental corruption of our politics" driven by "corporations and would-be oligarchs and billionaires to buy politicians," advocating for getting "money out of politics."

However, a spokeswoman for El-Sayed's Republican opponent, Mike Rogers, stated that El-Sayed is "cozying up to billionaires and lying to Michiganders." El-Sayed is also scheduled to attend a California fundraiser hosted by Jeffrey Soros, the nephew of billionaire George Soros. El-Sayed's campaign did not respond to requests for comment regarding the funding.

The Justice & Public Safety PAC, another major recipient of Soros family funding, has also channeled nearly $2 million into efforts to elect progressive prosecutors across the United States. The Soros family's broader initiatives have included advocating for reduced incarceration, the elimination of cash bail, and addressing alleged racism in law enforcement.

Other organizations that have received support from the Soros family during this election cycle include the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, Stacey Abrams' Fair Fight, and the Working Families Party PAC. Democratic Governors Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Abigail Spanberger of Virginia also received financial backing from Soros family political committees in their previous campaigns.

The full scope of the Soros family's political spending for the current cycle will become clearer as additional campaign finance reports are filed. Much of the network's spending is channeled through 501(c)(4) nonprofits, which are required to release disclosures annually, often with a significant time lag. George Soros transferred control of his political and philanthropic organizations to his son, Alex, between 2022 and 2023. A spokesperson for the Soros family did not respond to a request for comment.
