Soraya Khashoggi's Anguish Over Estrangement From Daughter

Soraya Khashoggi is experiencing profound anguish due to a nine-year rift with her daughter, Nabila, which has severed contact with her only grandson, Layth. "I want people to know that I haven’t seen my grandson for nine years," Soraya stated. "Nabila has cut me off totally. She told one of her brothers: ‘Tell mother she’s dead to me.’"

Layth, Nabila’s son by her second husband, American billionaire Jim Cox Chambers, was eight years old when Soraya last saw him. Soraya fears Layth will grow up with a skewed perception of her, unaware that he has a living grandmother. Nabila, who was educated at the prestigious Millfield School in Somerset after her family fled Lebanon during its civil war, declined to comment.

Nabila, Khashoggi’s only daughter with her former husband, Saudi billionaire Adnan Khashoggi, reportedly married Jim Cox Chambers in 2004. Soraya believes her daughter remains a devout follower of Scientology, suggesting that Nabila and Jim Cox Chambers are among its largest donors, potentially exceeding those of Tom Cruise. Nabila had previously been married to Danny Daggenhurst, with whom she had a son named Spartan, before pursuing a film career.

Soraya Khashoggi's past also includes overcoming early adversity. She was raised in a council house in Leicester by her single mother and has spoken of enduring the attentions of an abusive grandfather during her childhood.
