Sophia Bush Clarifies Relationship Timeline with Ashlyn Harris, Denies Overlap with Past Marriages

Sophia Bush has directly addressed speculation about the timeline of her relationship with Ashlyn Harris, asserting that there was no overlap with their respective marriages. During a Wednesday appearance on the podcast "Call Her Daddy," Bush stated that she and Harris had both filed for divorce and were living separately from their former partners before they went on their first date.

When host Alex Cooper asked if she could confidently say there was no overlap, Bush responded unequivocally, "I can say that." She further explained that the dinner date occurred after both women had already separated from their exes. "Two people who had filed for divorce and lived in separate residences from their exes went to dinner," Bush said.

While denying infidelity, Bush admitted that she wished the beginning of her and Harris’ relationship could have been handled differently, given that both were navigating fresh splits. Harris married USWNT teammate Ali Krieger in 2019 and they share two children, Sloane and Ocean. Harris filed for divorce in September 2023. Bush and Harris' romance was confirmed by Page Six in October 2023, and Bush publicly came out as queer in April 2024.

Bush was married to Grant Hughes for 13 months, filing for divorce in August 2023. She expressed a desire to refute accusations of infidelity but stated that her personal growth prevents her from wanting to hurt anyone, especially given that children are involved. "I don’t want to be party to that and that’s a really hard practice because all I want to do is be like, ‘Here’s all the information,’" she explained.

Bush noted that the rumors have affected her and Harris' professional lives and "destroyed their credibility." She recalled the first time she met Harris in 2015 via social media, but they did not meet in person until 2019. After years of friendship, Bush realized she had romantic feelings for the athlete.

Details surrounding the progression of their relationship and their eventual marriage have largely been kept private. However, Bush revealed that she was the one who proposed to Harris. "Turns out, I was never supposed to be asked, I was supposed to ask," Bush shared, describing the moment as "so sweet." The couple has reportedly been secretly married for over a year, with their union taking place in the summer of 2025.
