Sonya Curry Remarries in Surprise Summer Wedding
Steph Curry's mother, Sonya, has remarried a mystery man five years after her divorce from former NBA star Dell Curry.
Sonya Curry, mother of NBA stars Steph and Seth Curry, married a man identified only as "the most amazing man" this summer, approximately five years after her split from former NBA player Dell Curry. The author revealed the news on Instagram this week, sharing that the ceremony took place at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort.
The wedding was a swift affair, coming together in just nine weeks. Sonya Curry met her new husband about a year ago, shortly after the unexpected passing of her own mother. "A year ago my mom passed unexpectedly, while simultaneously the most amazing man came into my life! & months late (sic), I was blessed with becoming his wife," she wrote on Instagram. She added that their union is "a testament to the fact that God has seen every tear I've cried and answered every prayer that I had regarding the type of man that would be a perfect help mate for me."
For the occasion, Sonya Curry wore a white gown with gold floral print from Pnina Tornai, accessorized with jewelry from Iza diamonds. She previously shared a video montage titled "Summer 2026 recap" which included footage from the wedding ceremony.
Sonya and Dell Curry, who share sons Steph and Seth and daughter Sydel, were married in 1988. They met in college at Virginia Tech. The couple announced their decision to divorce in 2021 after a period of trial separation, stating at the time that "after exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage." Their joint statement expressed sadness but emphasized a continued focus on their family's happiness and commitment to their children and grandchildren, requesting privacy during their transition.
