Brett Anthony Bellera, 35, the eldest son of the infamous Amy Fisher, known as the 'Long Island Lolita,' has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals in Florida. The charge stems from the December 2024 death of his pet cat, Reaper, whose death was attributed to "involuntary heat exposure" by an ASPCA forensic necropsy. Investigators concluded the cat suffered "excessive and repeated" pain before its death.

Bellera, who lives in Fort Lauderdale with his girlfriend Jennifer Armenti, 36, told police he found the cat dead, suggesting accidental ingestion of cleaning products. However, animal control officers discovered the cat's body in a plastic laundry basket on the back patio in a "stiff, unnatural position" with blood pooling beneath it.

Extensive Criminal History

The animal cruelty charge, filed in June 2026, is the latest in a series of legal troubles for Bellera, whose criminal record dates back to 2019. That year, Boca Raton police accused him of robbing a man at gunpoint after arranging to sell him marijuana. According to a probable cause affidavit, Bellera allegedly produced a firearm, took cash and drugs, and fled in a BMW. A warrant was issued for his arrest, but charges were later declined due to an inability to reach the victim.

Bellera's rap sheet includes charges of trafficking synthetic cannabinoids, possession with intent to sell or deliver cannabis, LSD, and psilocybin, leading to a five-year probation sentence in 2019. He pleaded no contest to these charges. Following his probation, he was arrested in 2023 for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, though prosecutors declined to prosecute. Subsequent arrests in 2024 for possession of fentanyl, alprazolam, and THC, and disorderly conduct, saw the latter three dropped. He pleaded no contest to the fentanyl count and was sentenced to 18 months' probation, later amended to include jail time reducible through a substance abuse program.

Domestic Incidents and Other Charges

Records also indicate multiple domestic incidents involving Bellera and Armenti. In January 2025, Bellera was arrested on a domestic violence battery charge against Armenti, which prosecutors declined to proceed with. Later that year, Armenti was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and battery, classified as dating violence, with Bellera named as the victim. Bellera reportedly told police Armenti struck him with a hot curling iron and cut him with a bladed tool. He later asked prosecutors to drop the charges, stating it was a "misunderstanding" and he was not afraid of Armenti.

In August 2025, Bellera faced charges including armed burglary and possession of burglary tools. He pleaded no contest to a synthetic cathinones count and received jail time, with a portion reducible through a substance abuse program. In January 2026, he was arrested for cocaine possession, later amended to possession of synthetic cathinones, resulting in concurrent sentencing.

Family History

Bellera is the son of Amy Fisher, who gained notoriety in 1992 at age 17 for shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco in the head. Fisher was having an affair with Mary Jo's husband, Joey Buttafuoco. Fisher pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and served seven years of a 10-year sentence before being paroled in 1999. She later pursued a career in adult film and webcam work.

Fisher and ex-husband Louis Bellera, a retired NYPD officer, had three children, including Brett, before divorcing in 2015. The family relocated to Florida around 2011-2012. Fisher has spoken about her children facing social ostracization due to her past.

Bellera and Armenti are both due in court for the animal cruelty charge. Bellera was released on a $25,000 bond with GPS monitoring and is barred from possessing animals, with restrictions on his travel counties.
