Sofia Vergara Spotted Smiling in Los Angeles Amid Ex-Husband's Memoir Revelations

Sofia Vergara was seen out in Los Angeles on Wednesday, marking her first public appearance since the release of her ex-husband Joe Manganiello's memoir, "Bloodlines." The memoir details difficult periods during their marriage, including Manganiello's battle with an autoimmune disease.

Vergara, 54, adopted a casual style for her outing, wearing a gray Nirvana graphic T-shirt, roomy blue jeans, and black strappy sandals. She accessorized with sunglasses and carried a gray suede Bottega Veneta handbag. Photographers observed her leaving a spa, and she did not respond to questions about the claims made in Manganiello's book.

Manganiello's memoir recounts his struggles with an autoimmune disease that began worsening after his 2015 wedding to Vergara. He described symptoms such as abdominal pain, an ulcerated digestive tract, fevers, rashes, headaches, and fatigue. The actor stated he lost approximately 60 pounds and underwent emergency surgery in 2016 to remove a portion of his intestine.

The health issues reportedly led Manganiello to break a 13-year sobriety streak, using pain medication and marijuana to cope with the pain, as prescribed medications were insufficient. He also revealed experiencing suicidal ideations and having to dispose of a gun due to self-harm thoughts.

The memoir also touches on the couple's differing views on having children. Manganiello claims Vergara offered little emotional support during his illness, allegedly refusing to hug him and mocking his emotional support chihuahua. Vergara had previously stated in a January 2024 interview with El País that she did not wish to be an older mother, having had her son Manolo at 19 and being ready to be a grandmother.

Manganiello's book indicates he is open to starting a family with his fiancée, Caitlin O'Connor, 37, now that his health issues are behind him. He told Men's Journal in July 2024 that claims of him wanting a family were untrue and that he and Vergara had attempted to start a family in the first year and a half of their marriage. He expressed that his world has
