Tatiana Malova, an executive assistant at GBA Capital, has drawn criticism for her public shaming of acquaintances who declined to donate to a charity trading day. Malova, who also works as a matchmaker for affluent clients, expressed her disappointment on Instagram that some individuals, whom she considered friends, cited existing charitable commitments or the expense of social engagements as reasons for not contributing.
Malova stated that she was disillusioned by the responses, noting that some individuals who had previously enjoyed her hospitality, including meals and boat trips, were unwilling to donate. She specifically mentioned hearing from people who spend significant amounts on dining out, yet claimed they could not afford to donate. Malova's posts suggested a need to reassess her social circle based on their willingness to support charitable causes.
Her fundraising initiative was tied to a charity trading day sponsored by the Australian Fund Manager Foundation and the Australian Stockbrokers Foundation. Malova clarified that all brokerage generated on that day would be donated to partner charities, including Odyssey House NSW, which focuses on drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and the Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation. She emphasized that her personal Instagram activity was separate from her professional role at GBA Capital.
A spokesperson for GBA Capital confirmed the upcoming second annual Charity Trading Day on September 9, directing focus towards the beneficiaries and the charitable mission of the event. The firm requested that any coverage remain focused on the causes supported by the not-for-profit organizations involved.
