Social Security recipients to receive early November payments

Millions of Social Security recipients are set to receive their November payments earlier than usual this week. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries will see their November checks deposited on Friday, October 30, rather than on the first of the month.

This early disbursement is due to November 1 falling on a Sunday. The Social Security Administration (SSA) does not issue payments on weekends or federal holidays. This calendar quirk means recipients will get their November payment on the preceding Friday.

This is not the first time this year that SSI payments have been adjusted due to a weekend or holiday. Recipients also received an early December payment because January 1, 2026, is a federal holiday. The SSA issues SSI payments on the first of each month. The program provides monthly financial assistance to individuals with disabilities, as well as older adults and disabled children who meet specific income and resource limitations.

The maximum monthly SSI payment for 2026 is $994 for an individual and $1,491 for a couple. To qualify for SSI, individuals must be U.S. citizens or nationals, or certain noncitizens, be at least 65 years old, blind, or disabled, and have limited income and resources.

For those receiving Social Security retirement benefits, payments are staggered throughout the month based on the beneficiary's birthday. Those born between the 1st and 10th of the month receive their checks on the second Wednesday, the 11th to 20th on the third Wednesday, and the 21st to 31st on the fourth Wednesday.

The maximum monthly Social Security benefit for retirees is $5,181, with the average payment being $2,086. The SSA's schedule for the remainder of 2026, based on birthday, is as follows:

November: The 10th (early due to Veterans Day), 18th, and 25th.

December: The 9th, 16th, and 23rd.
