Soccer Player Slashed in Face During Bronx Park Altercation

An argument that began during a soccer match in the Bronx's St. Mary's Park on July 13 culminated in a player slashing his opponent in the head, according to police. The incident occurred around 7:35 p.m. near Trinity Avenue and East 147th Street in Mott Haven.

The verbal dispute between the two individuals reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation, leading the assailant to use a slashing weapon against the victim. The suspect then fled the scene.

Emergency medical services transported the injured man to NYC Health+Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was reported to be in stable condition. The victim informed authorities that he did not know the identity of his attacker.

Law enforcement released details of the assault on Sunday, including surveillance footage of the suspect. Police described the individual as a male, approximately 18 to 22 years old, with a medium complexion, long black hair, and brown eyes. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing an orange shirt, brown shorts, and gold shoes.
