So Delicious Dairy Free Ice Cream Recalled for Second Time Over Foreign Object Contamination
The popular non-dairy frozen dessert is being recalled nationwide due to the potential presence of small stones and hard objects.
Danone USA has issued a recall for its So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert for the second time in less than a year, citing concerns over the potential presence of foreign objects.
The recall, announced on September 18, 2026, involves pint-sized tubs of the dairy-free ice cream sold nationwide with best-by dates up to April 2028. The product may contain small stones and other hard objects, posing a risk of cuts, tears, or bruises to the mouth and teeth, and a potential choking hazard.
Danone USA stated that customers alerted the company to the issue. The presence of stones and hard objects is believed to be linked to the inclusion of cashews in the product. The harvesting process for cashews can inadvertently pick up stones and other debris from the ground, which may remain in the mixture if not adequately removed.
This is the second recall for the same product due to similar contamination concerns. The first recall occurred in December of the previous year, with affected products having a best-by date of August 2027. At that time, Danone USA indicated that the issue had been identified and corrected.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with either recall. The company is working with retailers to remove the recalled ice cream from shelves. Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised not to consume it and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The recalled products can be identified by UPC code 744473476138 and item number 136603, both found near the barcode. The best-by date is located on the bottom of the tub.
