Snezana Wood Reportedly Sought Escape from Marriage Before Husband's Arrest
A friend claims Snezana Wood was looking for a way out of her marriage to Sam Wood before his arrest on domestic violence charges.
Snezana Wood reportedly contacted a friend last year expressing a desire to end her eight-year marriage to "The Bachelor" star Sam Wood, according to a new report.
A friend of Snezana told the Herald Sun that she had been struggling privately, despite the couple's public image of a happy relationship. "Everyone has known what's gone on. It was an open secret in Brighton. Snezana wanted to find a way out," the friend stated.
These claims emerge as Sam Wood prepares for another bail hearing in the Supreme Court on November 4, following three weeks of incarceration. Another acquaintance alleged that Snezana did not have access to her finances or the couple's joint bank accounts during their marriage, despite significant property transactions.
Sam Wood, a personal trainer, sold his online fitness business for $71 million and recently purchased a property for $2.7 million, while the couple's family home in Brighton is listed for $7.15 million.
A former partner of Sam Wood also spoke about his past erratic behavior, claiming he once threw her belongings outside after an argument and was generally tight with money. She alleged he even tried to obtain Snezana's engagement ring for free.
Snezana Wood has recently been seen without her wedding ring, and neither she nor her daughter Eve have posted on social media in recent days, a departure from their typically active online presence. Sam Wood has lost over 15,000 Instagram followers since the allegations surfaced, while Snezana and Eve have gained thousands.
Wood was arrested and charged with domestic violence offenses earlier this month, stemming from an alleged assault at a Noosa holiday home. He was denied bail when he appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates' Court. Prosecutors allege that during the incident, which was reportedly witnessed by Snezana's daughter Eve, Sam Wood pushed his wife into a wardrobe, grabbed her by the throat, threw her against a wall, and struck her head against the floor.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Jeanette Grigoris informed the court that Wood had allegedly choked Snezana in a prior incident, which was not charged but indicated escalating behavior. Court documents state Eve intervened when an argument broke out, leading to Sam Wood's alleged aggressive approach towards her. Snezana's attempt to get between them resulted in the alleged assault.
Snezana reportedly told police, "This was it… my life was going to end," and believed Sam Wood was going to kill her. She also described him as "volatile and prone to angry outbursts," requiring her to "walk on eggshells around him."
Sam Wood's lawyer indicated that his client suffers from severe depression and might use self-defense as a trial argument. Meanwhile, fans have urged Snezana to take over the "28 by Sam Wood" fitness business, founded by Sam ten years ago and sold to myDNA in 2022. DBG Health, which owns myDNA, has terminated its commercial agreements with Wood following his arrest.
