Police officers in Gosport, Hampshire, encountered an unusual situation when a non-venomous corn snake entered their patrol car while they were on duty. The incident occurred when the officers observed the snake slithering across the road and then climb onto the vehicle's wheel.
One of the officers, PC Biggs, described the scene on social media, noting the challenge of coaxing the snake out from under the car. Fortunately, two passers-by with experience handling reptiles, Jason Gander and his daughter Kayleigh, were able to offer assistance. Despite attempts to lure the snake out with a dead mouse and efforts to access it by lifting the vehicle, the snake moved further into the car's undercarriage.
A local garage was called to provide a jack to raise the car higher, facilitating Mr. Gander's eventual extraction of the reptile. The snake, which has been named Brian, was temporarily housed in a cardboard box after its rescue and is now being cared for at a local reptile center. Police are seeking the owner of the snake.
This is not the first time a snake has caused a stir in connection with law enforcement. In 2017, a police officer in Florida was documented struggling to remove a snake from his office in a widely shared video.
