Small-Cap Stocks Outperform Blue-Chips Amidst Bond Market Volatility

The UK's AIM market has experienced a more stable week compared to the blue-chip FTSE 100, which is on track for its worst performance since mid-April. The turmoil in the bond market has increased risk premiums for larger companies, prompting investors to seek out growth stocks at lower valuations.

The AIM All-Share index saw a 0.5% increase, marking a positive start to the new quarter and reversing recent selling trends. This performance contrasts sharply with the FTSE 100, which had fallen by 1.9% at the time of reporting.

Ethernity Networks was a notable performer, with its shares climbing 217%. The surge occurred as the stock approached the exercise price of 14.9 billion warrants. The company, which held £25,000 in cash at the end of June, could raise £597,500 if all warrants are exercised. Recent interims highlighted efforts to license seven U.S. patents related to AI infrastructure technology.

ProService Building Services Marketplace rose 51% after shareholders granted the board authority to expedite new investment. MicroSalt, a producer of low-sodium salt, increased by 39% following a projection of $15 million in sales for 2027. The company is in advanced discussions with major food manufacturers that could contribute $3.1 million in sales this year, potentially bringing full-year revenue to $4.5 million.

Nativo Resources, a gold developer, gained 37% after securing a three-month repayment holiday on a £2.1 million unsecured loan.

Conversely, Litigation Capital Management (LCM) experienced a significant drop of 75% after announcing its decision to wind down operations, with its lender prioritized for any remaining cash. A strategic review failed to yield a deal, leading LCM to cease new investments and utilize case proceeds to repay its lender, Northleaf.
