Slipknot has reportedly parted ways with DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson after 28 years with the Grammy-winning metal band. Wilson, 49, was informed of his permanent dismissal late Friday, according to a report from TMZ.
No official reason for Wilson's departure has been provided by the band, nor has a replacement been announced. Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 as the group's ninth member, shortly before the release of their self-titled debut album in 1999. He performed under the stage name "#0," providing turntables, keyboards, samples, and sound effects.
Wilson's reported firing follows his engagement breakup with Kelly Osbourne in March, after four years together. The couple shares a 3-year-old son, Sidney. Osbourne and Wilson initially met in 1999, but their romantic relationship did not begin until decades later.
Wilson's tenure with Slipknot saw significant lineup changes over the years. Original members have gradually departed, and some have passed away. Bassist Paul Gray died in 2010, and drummer Joey Jordison died in 2021. Keyboardist Craig Jones and percussionist Chris Fehn also left the group. Currently, only singer Corey Taylor, percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan, and guitarists Mick Thomson and Jim Root remain from the band's classic lineup that gained widespread fame after their 1999 album.
Slipknot, formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995, became a prominent heavy metal band known for its distinctive masks, energetic live performances, and hit songs such as "Duality" and "Psychosocial."
Beyond his work with Slipknot, Wilson also pursued a solo project under the name DJ Starscream, inspired by the "Transformers" villain.
