During a recent heatwave, a journalist found the Sleepeezee Regency Kenilworth 1600 Pocket Sprung Mattress provided a surprisingly comfortable night's sleep. The mattress, exclusively available from Dreams, is designed with features intended to offer a luxurious sleeping experience.
Royal Pedigree and Cooling Properties
The Sleepeezee brand holds a Royal Warrant from King Charles, a distinction it has maintained for over 60 years. The Regency Kenilworth model incorporates sustainable bamboo fillings, which are noted for their ability to help regulate body temperature, making it suitable for warmer conditions.
Mattress Features and Support
This particular model is described as one of the firmest in the Sleepeezee range, with a 'very firm' rating. It features 1,600 individually wrapped pocket springs designed to provide full-body support and minimize partner disturbance. The mattress construction includes a bamboo cover, bamboo comfort layer, and additional comfort layers, contributing to its firm yet supportive feel. Edge support is also included to prevent a feeling of rolling off the mattress.
Personal Experience and Adjustment
Initially, the 'very firm' nature of the mattress required an adjustment period for the reviewer, especially for someone accustomed to softer surfaces. However, after a few days, the mattress provided significant support, particularly for lower back pain. The pocket springs were noted for offering a stable feel without excessive movement transfer.
Sustainability and Construction
Sleepeezee emphasizes sustainability, holding Planet Mark certification and being a certified Carbon Neutral Organisation. The Regency Kenilworth mattress is made in the UK and features an antibacterial bamboo-blend damask cover. It is constructed with six layers, including various comfort materials and the pocket spring system.
Design, Delivery, and Value
The mattress has a substantial thickness and a plush damask cover, contributing to its premium appearance. It arrived as a full-sized mattress, not rolled or compressed. Dreams offers free delivery, with an option to upgrade for room-of-choice service. Priced at £1,499 for a double, the mattress is positioned at the higher end of the market but is considered competitive given its materials and construction. It also comes with a 10-year guarantee.
Online Reception
Online reviews for the mattress show a high rating, with customers frequently praising its balance of firmness and comfort, its effectiveness in reducing tossing and turning, and its support for back comfort and spinal alignment. The premium construction, including the pocket springs and breathable cover, also receives positive mentions.
