Zdravko Bilic, the husband of skincare company founder Gry Tomte, was fatally stabbed and possibly struck with a hammer during a home invasion at his Sunshine Coast residence, a court has been told. Bilic, co-founder of HUD Skin + Body Melbourne, was discovered dead in the front yard of his home on July 14, 2025.

Kieysha Jade Sky, 19, faces charges including murder, vehicle theft, and home invasion in relation to the incident. Her committal hearing at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday heard from four witnesses, including forensic pathologist Jack Garland. Dr. Garland testified that an autopsy revealed a blunt force injury to the back of Bilic's head, inflicted with enough force to break the skin and consistent with the use of a hammer.

"It was found to be capable of causing this injury, it does not exclude any other implement from having done it," Dr. Garland stated. The autopsy could not definitively determine if the head injury occurred before or after the fatal stab wound. Bilic sustained multiple bruises and abrasions on his limbs and torso, but no defensive wounds were apparent from the stabbing.

Two young witnesses told the court they heard shouting and saw two individuals flee to a car that sped away from the vicinity of Bilic's Warana home shortly after the alleged murder. Defense barrister David Jones KC conceded that a prima facie case existed, leading to Sky being ordered to stand trial at Brisbane Supreme Court.

Police allege Bilic was stabbed twice after interrupting a break-in around 11:30 p.m. on July 13, 2025, approximately 20 hours before his body was discovered. His wife, Gry Tomte, was not home at the time.

Two other teenagers, aged 15 and 17 at the time, have also been charged with Bilic's murder. Sky has been remanded in custody, with her case scheduled to return to court on December 9. Sky waved and smiled to five supporters present in court during the hearing. She offered no plea or statement when addressed by the magistrate.

Tomte, who was not home at the time of the incident, recently shared a tribute on what would have been her 21st wedding anniversary with Zdravko Bilic. Alongside a photograph of a lychee martini, she wrote, "Zed and I discovered lychee martinis together in Montreal. We both liked them so much we made it our signature cocktail at our wedding. Cheers to us my darling."
