A dispute between a skateboarder and a Mercedes driver in New York City's East Village escalated into a physical confrontation, with the skateboard being used as a weapon by both parties. The incident, captured on a viral video, concluded with the driver in a headlock, having lost consciousness.

The melee unfolded on St. Marks Place near Second Avenue when the driver, a 34-year-old man, and an unidentified skateboarder began arguing. Bystanders reported that the driver had nearly struck the skateboarder and another individual with his SUV.

The argument intensified when the skateboarder used his board to strike the Mercedes' windshield, shattering it. The driver then exited his vehicle, retrieved the skateboard, and struck the skateboarder with it. The altercation continued with a scuffle between the two men.

According to the video footage and police reports, the skateboarder eventually gained the upper hand, throwing the driver to the ground and then placing him in a headlock. During this part of the confrontation, the skateboarder struck the driver on the head with the skateboard. A woman in the vehicle could be heard shouting for the fight to stop.

Responding NYPD officers found the driver unconscious from the headlock. He was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. The skateboarder had left the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

The video of the incident was posted on X, where it gained significant attention. The photographer who recorded the video, Michael O'Hara, commented on the nature of New York City street interactions, stating that he chose not to intervene in the fight. He later remarked that the driver should not have exited his vehicle to engage in the confrontation.
