The roller coaster under construction at Six Flags Great Adventure, code-named Project Purple, has reached a height exceeding 320 feet, establishing it as the tallest structure within the New Jersey theme park. Construction is proceeding on schedule, with the park anticipating a 2027 opening for the new attraction.
A spokesperson for Six Flags Great Adventure confirmed the construction milestone, stating that the structure "continues to rise, already making it the tallest structure at Six Flags Great Adventure." Once completed, the coaster is expected to rank among the tallest in the world. The park has not yet announced the official name or full ride statistics for the coaster, but it is described as featuring "multiple launches and an innovative ride experience unlike anything else in North America."
Construction is projected to continue through 2026, followed by several months of testing before its planned 2027 debut. The development of Project Purple follows the early 2025 demolition of Kingda Ka, the park's former 456-foot-tall launch coaster. While Kingda Ka is no longer in operation, Six Flags has indicated that the new attraction is designed to offer a similarly thrilling experience with new ride elements not currently found elsewhere on the continent.
The ongoing construction has generated considerable interest among roller coaster enthusiasts online, with many observing the scale of the project as more of the structure takes shape.
