Anna Watkins, sister of missing North Carolina resident Elizabeth Waddell, announced she is grieving for her sibling as the investigation into Waddell's disappearance in Grenada remains open. Watkins departed the Caribbean island Thursday, a week after the 44-year-old physical therapist was last seen.
Waddell, a mother from Cary, North Carolina, disappeared on July 22 while on vacation. She was last observed entering the water near her Airbnb in the Grand Anse resort area. Despite leaving the island, Watkins conveyed her continued hope for her sister's safe return, stating, "She’s not lost. She’s exploring the sea, still sharing her magic with those around her."
Watkins shared that she spent time near Grand Anse Beach, the location where Waddell was last seen. "I floated along Grand Anse Beach this morning, spending some time enjoying the beauty of the place she was last seen," Watkins wrote. "I imagined Liz’s contentment relaxing in the warm calm salty water."
Watkins described her emotional state as devastated, noting that the world feels like a blur. The search for Elizabeth Waddell is ongoing.
