Sister of "Breaking Bad" Actor RJ Mitte Mourns His Death by Suicide

RJ Mitte, an actor known for his role in the acclaimed television series "Breaking Bad," died by suicide on October 12 at his home in Brownsville, Texas. He was 34. His death has left his mother, Dyna, and his sister, Lacianne Carriere, devastated.

Carriere recently shared a touching tribute to her late brother on Instagram, accompanied by a series of throwback photos. "There are just no words," she wrote. "You were just here. Your strawberry Fanta was still sitting on my coffee table when I got the call. Life hasn’t felt real since then."

She described Mitte as more than just a brother, stating he was also a father figure and her "other half." Carriere revealed that their mother, Dyna, was paralyzed for the first few years of her life after an accident when Carriere was just two weeks old. Mitte, diagnosed with cerebral palsy around age three, stepped into a parental role for his younger sister.

"Every single aspect of my personality is because of your influence," Carriere wrote. "My music taste, my film taste the video games I love. Because of you I am a collector. You taught me that even the smallest piece of paper can be a precious memory later on."

At Mitte's memorial service on October 16, Carriere delivered a tearful eulogy. "My mom was a single mother and when I was two weeks old, she was in an accident that paralyzed her from the waist down for the first few years of my life," she recounted. "And my brother immediately took on the father role. I don't have many words that I can put together but all I can say is that every part of me is RJ."

Carriere also spoke about the joy and vibrancy Mitte brought to his relationships. "You were the life of the party, coolest guy that we all tried to keep up with but never could," she wrote. "We had so much more to do, so many more memories to be shared and I don't know if my heart can ever be whole again after losing the biggest piece of it."

She concluded her tribute with a promise: "I promise I'm going to do my hardest and I promise your love will always live through me until the day I see you again." Mitte played Walter Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston's character Walter White, in "Breaking Bad." Cranston, who starred as Mitte's father on the show, expressed his grief on Instagram, calling the loss "devastating" and noting that they had been in touch just weeks prior to discuss meeting for lunch. Cranston praised Mitte's determination in handling the demanding shooting schedule despite his cerebral palsy.

Mitte's mother, Dyna, told The Hollywood Reporter that while there had been concerns about her son's mental health, she had encouraged him to seek professional help and share his feelings. "It was more about the conversations we were having - not just with me, but with his team and friends," she said.
