A 24-year-old mother, Kirandeep Kaur, was killed Sunday in a fatal stabbing incident in Hayes, west London, while she slept with her husband and infant child. Her sister, Gursharan, described Kaur as "my world" and expressed devastation over the loss.
Kaur, who was originally from the Majha region of Punjab, India, had come to London in September 2024 to study at Buckinghamshire New University. After completing her studies, she worked at a grocery store. She had shared positive experiences of London with her family back home, describing the city as beautiful and expressing happiness.
Gursharan, 21, spoke of her sister's intelligence and strong work ethic, noting that Kaur had been a top student in India and was very supportive of her family. "Our family is very poor. She always thinks about us first. She was very supportive to me. She was my world. My heart hurts," Gursharan said.
A man has been charged with Kaur's murder.
