Sir Michael Palin Cancels Tour After Bathroom Fall

Sir Michael Palin has been forced to cancel his upcoming book tour and events after sustaining injuries from a fall in his bathroom. The 83-year-old Monty Python star broke three ribs and fractured his pelvis.

Palin was scheduled to promote his latest book, "Michael Palin – In the Philippines." The accident, which he described as a "comedy fall with no audience," has led to the postponement of his tour dates. He apologized to fans and those involved in organizing the tour.

"My accident was quite unsensational, a slip in the family bathroom where I've walked for 58 years," Palin wrote on Instagram. "I fell heavily on my left side resulting in three fractured ribs and a minor pelvic fracture. The recovery of bone fractures takes a long time especially when you're 83."

He added, "It was a comedy fall with no audience there to see it. I shall stick to fish slapping dances from now on."

Palin also expressed gratitude to the National Health Service (NHS) for their care. Information regarding rescheduled dates will be communicated to ticket holders.

The book "Michael Palin – In the Philippines" chronicles the author's travels through the archipelago, including experiences in Manila and the idyllic Cadlao Island. It also details his encounter with 'pagpag,' a dish made from leftover KFC bones, which he ultimately declined to eat.

This journey through the Philippines was also documented for a Channel 5 travel documentary. The book marks the latest in a series of Palin's global travel adventures, which have previously taken him to the North and South Poles, the Sahara, the Himalayas, Eastern Europe, and North Korea.
