A single mother has voiced her disappointment after her former partner chose to attend his best friend's wedding as a groomsman rather than be present for their daughter's first birthday. Domenica Calarco organized a birthday party for her one-year-old daughter, Dove, over the weekend, but the child's father was absent.

Calarco, a former MAFS star, explained that she had envisioned a family day out, such as a trip to the zoo or aquarium, to celebrate Dove's milestone. She emphasized the importance of co-parenting to create memories for their child, even though they are no longer together. The father of her child had known about the wedding for months and had agreed to be a groomsman, aware of the conflict with Dove's first birthday.

"The father of my child decided to be a groomsman for a friend, rather than spend the day with his daughter on her first birthday," Calarco stated, expressing her confusion and disappointment. "He's decided to choose friends over his firstborn daughter and her first birthday, and I just cannot get my head around it."

She suggested that if the roles were reversed, she would face significant criticism. "All I can think about is imagine if that was me," she said. "If I was the one that accepted to be a bridesmaid in a wedding on my daughter's first birthday, I would never hear the end of it. It's ridiculous."

Calarco later shared an update indicating that her ex-partner had spent a brief period with their daughter on the morning of her actual birthday before departing for the wedding. This situation has divided opinions online, with some supporting Calarco's feelings and others suggesting she may be overreacting.

Supporters of Calarco argued that a child should be a parent's top priority, especially for significant milestones like a first birthday. They believe that while a child may not remember the exact day, photos and the act of prioritizing the event hold importance. Others commented that a wedding is not more important than a child's birthday and that the father could have potentially managed both commitments.

Conversely, some internet users suggested that Calarco might be mourning the ideal family unit she had envisioned and that co-parenting often involves compromises and fractured moments. Some shared their own experiences, where alternative arrangements were made for birthdays due to unavoidable events, and the children were unaffected.

Calarco had previously confirmed in the past year that she would be raising her daughter as a single mother. At the time, she expressed excitement for the new chapter and felt empowered by her decision, while also acknowledging the father's support in a co-parenting capacity.
