Zoe Graham, wife of singer Rag'n'Bone Man, has been handed a 12-week suspended prison sentence for a collision that left a mother and her three children injured and traumatized. Graham, 38, admitted to causing serious injury by careless driving when she attempted to overtake a tractor on a road in East Sussex in August 2023.
During the incident, Graham was rushing to pick up her two sons and attempted to overtake a slow-moving tractor. She crossed double white lines and failed to see three cars ahead of the tractor, colliding with a Ford car that was turning right. The driver of the Ford, Samantha Keen, was taking her children to an animal rescue center at the time of the crash.
Miss Keen lost consciousness during the impact and sustained a broken ankle, cuts to her face and head, and hip injuries. Her three children suffered cuts and bruises. The court heard that the entire family was left mentally traumatized by the event, with the children requiring counseling for PTSD. Miss Keen described the fear of leaving her children as orphans and noted that her eldest child asked if she was going to where their father was, who had died the previous year.
Miss Keen required extensive recovery, including wearing an ankle boot and using crutches for months, and suffered from concussion and post-concussion migraines. The crash also impacted her ability to care for her children and forced her to give up sports. Her car, an important possession after her husband's death, was wrecked.
In court, Graham expressed deep remorse for her actions. She explained that she was running late to pick up her sons and had a history of anxiety related to being late due to past domestic abuse. She stated that she had never intentionally harmed anyone and was deeply sorry for the impact on the victim's family. Judge David Rennie acknowledged Graham's remorse and her understanding of the trauma caused, noting that the incident was out of character. He suspended her 12-week sentence for 18 months, warning that any breach could lead to imprisonment.
Rory Graham, known as Rag'n'Bone Man, rose to fame in 2016 with his hit single 'Human.' He and Zoe married in 2021.
