Nu metal singer Nathan James announced Friday that his father, Bill McGinley, 72, has been found dead two days after he went missing on a Colorado bike trail.
The Louisville Police Department had reported that McGinley was last seen on Wednesday around 8:40 a.m. making his way to the Harper Lake/Coyote Run Open Space Trail. On Wednesday, James shared an Instagram photo with his father and asked for assistance in locating him.
McGinley's body was discovered on Thursday in the Coyote Run Open Space area, according to the coroner's office, which did not disclose the cause or manner of death. James confirmed the news in a video posted to Instagram, stating that his father had passed away.
"My dad has gone home upstairs and I love you, dad," James said in the video. "He was my best friend. I love him. I've been on an emotional rollercoaster ride like none other that I've ever been through."
James detailed his father's last known movements and attire in his social media posts. Police noted McGinley was last seen riding a white Specialized pedal bicycle and wearing a dark blue shirt, black shorts, white socks, and white shoes. James added that his father was wearing a white helmet and black tights.
James had previously shared that his father was riding on a 36th bike path, Davidson Mesa, near Harper Lake, and roads that would take him home to his house near Waneka Lake in Lafayette. He pleaded with the public for any information that could help locate his father, emphasizing their close relationship. "I talk to him on the phone 2-3 times a day, ever since I’ve had a phone," James said.
"This has been the most mental mind-f*** thing ever of your dad is missing, and then you find him, and you find him and he's no longer with us, and it's a different level of f***-with-your-head," James shared. He thanked those who helped spread awareness for his father's disappearance. "And I just need some time to myself. And I love him so much, man."
