An American singer has ended her romance with a Scottish football fan she met during the Tartan Army's presence in Boston for the World Cup, citing revelations that he is facing serious criminal charges.

Jill Roberts, 42, met Tommy Morrison, 38, in June during the World Cup, which was held in cities across the U.S., including Boston. The pair gained online attention after Roberts shared a video where Morrison responded to her question about what he liked most about Boston with "You."

Their long-distance relationship began shortly thereafter, with Roberts purchasing flights to Scotland for the end of August. However, in a recent social media video, Roberts announced the relationship's end.

The Daily Record reported that Morrison appeared in court earlier this year facing charges under Solemn Procedure, a court proceeding for serious criminal offenses. A spokesperson for Scotland's Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service confirmed Morrison appeared on Petition on January 31, though the specific charges were not disclosed. A source indicated that Morrison's case remains in the investigation stage.

Roberts stated in her video that while she doesn't believe Morrison is a bad person and acknowledges his positive qualities, he has "unresolved connections with the past that he needs to resolve or pursue." She added that she is "walking away from this relationship with my head held high, feeling good and having clarity on it."

Roberts and Morrison were among several couples who formed connections during the World Cup in Boston, where Scottish fans were noted for their enthusiastic presence. Many local women reportedly found the visiting Scottish fans to be fun and engaging.
