Sienna Miller Regrets Daughter's Unexpected Red Carpet Appearance
The actress expressed concern over her 14-year-old daughter's brief, unscripted appearance at a film premiere.
Sienna Miller has shared her feelings of regret regarding her 14-year-old daughter Marlowe's impromptu appearance on the red carpet at the premiere of the film "War" in London last Wednesday. The actress clarified that Marlowe was not originally scheduled to attend the event with her.
"Marlowe didn’t actually walk the red carpet with me. She came with her friend. My mom was also there," Miller explained in a recent interview on SiriusXM’s “The Julia Cunningham Show.” She described the moment as brief, stating, "It was five seconds at the end where she, like, came to give me a hug and totally mogged me."
Miller, 44, indicated that both she and her daughter were unprepared for the public's reaction to Marlowe's presence. "I think I’m going to be sending her away to a nunnery for the next four years until she can emerge as an actual adult," Miller quipped, emphasizing that the appearance was unplanned and unintentional.
While acknowledging her daughter's striking appearance, Miller stressed that her looks are "the least interesting thing" about her. "She’s so clever and she’s so funny and she’s still my little girl," Miller said of Marlowe, whom she shares with ex-partner Tom Sturridge. She noted that further red carpet appearances for Marlowe are unlikely, reiterating that her daughter's involvement was minimal.
Miller, who also has two younger children with boyfriend Oli Green, reflected on the challenges of parenting in the public eye. "Your kids want to be involved in your life and it’s an exciting world to kind of dip a toe into, but then it’s so easy to get your life prescribed to you by these moments and suddenly your career is decided," she stated.
Miller added, "Marlowe being at my event, you know that, of course, she wants to be there, but you don’t want to write your kids’ histories or futures for them."
The mother and daughter attended the premiere at London’s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square to support Miller's new HBO thriller series. Miller wore a black feathered strapless gown by Dilara Findikoglu, while Marlowe opted for a vintage Pittsburgh Pirates T-shirt, a black midi skirt, and carried a Chloé Paddington bag.
In 2024, Miller described Marlowe as a "little fashion monster" with a discerning eye for style, likening her to a young Anna Wintour in her critiques of Miller's outfits. However, Miller noted that since their move to London in 2023, Marlowe has begun to appreciate a more "undone" aesthetic.
