Shropshire Charity Anticipates High Demand for Annual Christmas Present Campaign
Little Stars launches Santa's Little Stars initiative, expecting continued financial pressures to increase need.
A Shropshire charity, Little Stars, is anticipating a high demand for its annual Christmas present campaign, Santa's Little Stars, which aims to provide gifts to families facing financial hardship. The campaign, which began on Saturday, October 24, and runs until Friday, December 4, is seeking donations of new, unwrapped toys and gifts.
Collection points for donations are located at Shrewsbury's Darwin shopping centre, with specific drop-off sites outside The Collective, The Entertainer, Home Bargains, and Clarks Shoes. The donated items are then wrapped and distributed to children aged birth to 17, as well as pregnant women referred to the charity.
Little Stars noted that 2023 marked its largest campaign year to date. The charity attributes the expected continued high demand to ongoing financial pressures affecting many families. Since its inception in 2020, Santa's Little Stars has distributed over 8,000 presents, supporting more than 2,100 children.
The charity, which provides essential items to families in need, relies on public donations for the Santa's Little Stars initiative. The campaign operates annually, with this year's drive running from late October through early December. Volunteers wrap the donated gifts to ensure they are ready for distribution before Christmas.
