Showpo CEO Jane Lu Reveals Family Fridge Contents
The Australian fashion entrepreneur shared a peek inside her refrigerator, highlighting her husband's organized system for food storage and some of her personal preferences.
Jane Lu, the founder of the $100 million fashion empire Showpo, has offered a glimpse into her family's refrigerator, showcasing a blend of practical everyday items and more extravagant ingredients. Lu, who built her company after a previous business venture failed, leaving her in debt, described her busy life as a working mother.
"Everyone thinks I've got my life together, but let me show you what the fridge of a working mum actually looks like," Lu said. She noted that her husband, James Waldie, manages the organization of their fridge with a meticulous system for essentials like butter, cheese, eggs, and milk, arranging them according to their expiration dates.
"I don't have a really good system, but my husband's really anal about these things," Lu joked, adding that "everything has a system."
For her own breakfast, Lu keeps two peeled hard-boiled eggs in a ziplock bag for convenience. The fridge also contains multiple tubs of vintage cheese slices, a favorite snack for her husband. Lu humorously stated, "We have lots of cheese in case, God forbid we run out of cheese."
Among the more unusual items are four trays of sea urchins, which Lu described as looking like "booger." In Australia, a single live sea urchin can range from $5 to $10, with a tray of five typically costing between $30 and $70.
Lu also revealed that her husband has designated specific areas for beverages, with white water bottles stacked neatly, followed by black bottles. "I'm not allowed to touch those," she quipped.
The couple's home also features an additional four fridges in a storeroom, dedicated to wine and other alcoholic drinks. Lu mentioned that these include a "casual" wine fridge and four other wine fridges, reflecting their enjoyment of entertaining guests.
Lu's video tour of her fridge has garnered significant attention online, with viewers commenting on the content and her lifestyle. When asked if she ever playfully disrupts her husband's system, Lu responded, "We pick our battles."
