Shough Leads Saints Over Giants in High-Scoring Week 6 Matchup

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns, adding another touchdown on the ground, to lead his team to a 34-27 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday. The win came despite a defense that allowed a significant scoring run by the Giants in the latter part of the game.

Shough, drafted 15 picks after Jaxson Dart in 2025, played through broken hand bones, according to reports. His performance was a key factor in the Saints' ability to maintain a lead.

The Saints offense demonstrated a critical scoring burst, tallying 17 unanswered points over a four-minute span spanning the late first half and early second half. This surge turned a 10-0 deficit into a 17-10 lead.

Conversely, the Giants' running game struggled significantly. Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, and Najee Harris combined for only 34 yards on 14 carries, with one touchdown. Running back Cam Skattebo was benched due to ball security issues and recorded no touches.

Defensively, Saints cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. was a standout performer. He recorded two interceptions, nearly a third, and defended four passes. Emerson also contributed seven tackles, including 1.5 for loss.

Despite the Saints' offensive success, the Giants mounted a comeback attempt. Giants safety Jason Pinnock commented on the defensive lapses, stating, "Way too hot, way too cold. We have to find out what’s lighting the match and what’s blowing the candle out." This remark followed a period where the defense shut out the Saints for the first 28 minutes, only to allow 34 consecutive points.

The Giants' loss dropped them to a .500 record, while the Saints continued their strong performance in Week 6. The game was played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
