Shooting Erupts Outside California Airbnb During Rap Video Shoot
Uninvited guests fired shots at an Airbnb in Fresno after being denied entry, damaging local businesses.
A rap video shoot at an Airbnb in Fresno, California, devolved into a gun battle early Sunday morning when individuals denied entry opened fire. The incident occurred at approximately 2:24 a.m. near Fulton Street and Dennett Avenue in the city's Tower District, according to the Fresno Police Department.
At least 10 rounds were discharged, striking the exterior of a business on Fulton Avenue. Police stated that it appears there was an exchange of gunfire. No injuries have been reported, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities indicated they would examine any previous calls for service at the location.
Surveillance video captured two groups arguing outside the residence before shots were fired. The gunfire resulted in damage to two local businesses. One business owner found a bullet on the floor and a bullet hole in the wall of her nail studio, while another business sustained window damage.
This event follows a recent shooting outside a nightclub in the Tower District approximately one week prior, which left two individuals severely wounded. That incident occurred during a Halloween-themed bar crawl known as a “zombie crawl.”
Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer had announced new public safety measures on October 21, including increased police patrols and improved street lighting, in response to a string of shootings in the Tower District. He expressed a zero-tolerance policy for violence in the area.
So far this year, Fresno has recorded 132 shooting incidents, compared to 128 incidents during the same period last year.
