Shohei Ohtani Activated, Dodgers Lineup Whole for First Time This Season
Two-way star returns from injured list as Los Angeles prepares for a potential World Series run.
Shohei Ohtani has been activated off the injured list by the Los Angeles Dodgers, rejoining the team's lineup for the first time this season. The move makes the Dodgers' offensive unit completely whole as the team heads into the final stretch of the regular season and gears up for a postseason push.
Ohtani was placed on the injured list for 15 days due to ongoing right arm and left knee injuries. While he has been activated, both injuries are expected to impact his performance for the remainder of the season. He will not pitch in the playoffs and may need to manage his swing due to the lingering effects of his injuries.
Prior to his injured list stint, Ohtani had been struggling, hitting .137 (6-for-52) with visible signs of discomfort during his swing. The Dodgers are hopeful that his recent time off will allow him to regain his form.
"He's feeling considerably better," manager Dave Roberts said regarding Ohtani's condition. The team aims to give Ohtani at least a week's worth of at-bats before the playoffs commence, allowing him an opportunity to find a rhythm.
With Ohtani's return, the Dodgers were able to field their preferred starting nine for the first time in 2026. This marks a significant development for the team, as all key offensive players are now healthy and in the lineup simultaneously.
