Shipwreck Surfaces on Nantucket Beach During Nor'easter Storm
Fragments of a 19th-century vessel, possibly the 'Warren Sawyer,' have been uncovered on a Massachusetts island by severe weather.
A powerful nor'easter storm has unearthed a potential 19th-century shipwreck on a beach in Nantucket, Massachusetts.
The wreckage discovered on Sunday is believed by local media to be part of the "Warren Sawyer," a vessel that reportedly ran aground near the island in 1884.
This is not the first time remnants of the ship have been found; fragments were also discovered on the island in 2022 and 2023. The recent nor'easter brought heavy rainfall and coastal flooding to parts of the northeastern U.S., with over 160,000 households experiencing power outages.
Separately, the same storm system contributed to flooding in Bangkok, Thailand, which was declared a disaster zone.
