Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Sports New Lip Piercing, Continues Family Trend of Dropping 'Pitt'
Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh has been seen with a new lip piercing, drawing comparisons to her mother, as the Jolie-Pitt children continue to formally change their surnames.
Angelina Jolie's 20-year-old daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, was recently spotted at a Los Angeles farmer's market sporting a new lip piercing. The piercing drew comparisons to a similar accessory Jolie wore in 2021.
Shiloh was the first of Jolie and ex-husband Brad Pitt's six children to legally drop Pitt's surname. She filed paperwork to change her name from Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie on her 18th birthday, May 27, 2024. Her younger sister, Vivienne, is the latest to make the change official, filing legal documents to switch her surname from Jolie-Pitt to Jolie for personal reasons.
Jolie has spoken about her children being individuals and that she is proud of them for forging their own paths. A source close to Jolie told People magazine that the children's public silence on the matter demonstrates their decency and that Jolie 'just wants everyone to heal.'
The legal separation between Jolie and Pitt, which began when Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, has involved a protracted and often contentious legal battle. This conflict has included allegations of abuse made by Jolie against Pitt, which he has denied. The FBI investigated allegations related to a private plane incident in 2016 involving Pitt and their son Maddox, but no charges were filed.
In 2022, Jolie submitted court documents detailing accusations of Pitt's behavior during the 2016 plane flight, including allegations that he poured alcohol on Jolie and the children, choked one child, and struck another. A source close to Pitt stated at the time that the information was not new and was intended as a media stunt.
In April 2024, Jolie also accused Pitt of being physically abusive prior to the 2016 plane incident in court papers related to a property dispute.
Adding to the ongoing disputes, Jolie and Pitt remain entangled in a legal conflict over the Chateau Miraval winery in the South of France. Jolie sold her share of the winery to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021, a move Pitt sued to contest, asserting she was contractually obligated to obtain his consent as co-owner. Jolie has cited Pitt's acknowledged alcohol abuse as a factor in her decision to sell her stake and has urged Pitt to drop the lawsuit so the family can heal.
Pitt has spoken about his struggles with alcohol, revealing in interviews that he had relapsed after seven years of sobriety. The winery dispute is one of several legal battles that have continued for years following their split.
