Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Debuts Lip Piercing, Echoing Mother Angelina Jolie's Style Amid Family Name Changes

Shiloh Jolie, the 20-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, was recently observed sporting a new lip piercing, a stylistic choice reminiscent of her mother's fashion. The appearance comes as several of the former couple's children have legally moved to drop Pitt's surname.

Shiloh was seen at a Los Angeles farmer's market with the new piercing, which echoes a lip-to-chin cuff Jolie wore to the premiere of her 2021 film "The Eternals." This personal style choice by Shiloh occurs against a backdrop of her siblings also altering their legal names.

Shiloh was the first of the six children to officially change her surname from Jolie-Pitt to Jolie on her 18th birthday, May 27, 2024. Her twin sister, Vivienne, 18, is the latest to formally file legal paperwork to make the change from Jolie-Pitt to Jolie for personal reasons. Other children who have filed to drop Pitt's surname include Maddox, 25; Pax, 22; and Zahara, 21. Only Knox, 18, has not publicly pursued a name change.

Jolie has spoken about her children being individuals, telling L'Officiel USA that her kids "know me pretty well" and "know all sides of me." She added that they "are definitely individuals," which she finds a source of pride, emphasizing her approach to not impede their personal development.

The legal name changes by the children have been interpreted by some as a reflection of the ongoing estrillangement between Jolie and Pitt. Vivienne's name change was formalized in a legal petition filed with the Los Angeles Daily Journal, noting the change was for "personal" reasons. She was credited as Vivienne Jolie on the Playbill for the 2024 Broadway production of "The Outsiders," which she produced alongside her mother.

A source close to Jolie told People that "If people knew the whole truth, they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them." The source added, "The fact they aren’t speaking ill or sharing things publicly only shows their decency. Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry. She just wants everyone to heal."

Jolie and Pitt's separation in 2016 followed a dispute on a private plane involving their son Maddox, then 15. The FBI investigated allegations of Pitt becoming physical during the incident, but the investigation was closed without charges. In 2022 court filings, Jolie detailed accusations of Pitt's behavior on the plane, alleging he poured beer and wine on Jolie and the children and struck one of them. A source close to Pitt at the time called the claims a "media stunt." In April 2024 court papers related to a property dispute, Jolie further alleged Pitt had been abusive to her "well before" the plane incident.

Pitt, who quit drinking following the split, revealed in an interview this summer that he had resumed drinking after seven years of sobriety. He and Jolie are also entangled in a legal conflict over Chateau Miraval, the winery they once jointly owned in the South of France. Pitt sued Jolie over her sale of her stake in the winery to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021, arguing she was contractually obligated to obtain his consent. Jolie has cited Pitt's acknowledged alcohol abuse and alleged abusive behavior in connection with the winery dispute, urging him to "end the fighting" and drop the lawsuit to allow their family to "heal."
