Police officers in San Jose, California, recently engaged in an unconventional pursuit, tracking a runaway Shetland pony through city streets. The incident occurred on a Thursday night when patrol officers received a report of the small horse on the loose.

Dashcam footage captured the pony trotting down a residential street, with a police car following at a slow pace. The animal, described as no taller than a human, was observed moving through the neighborhood.

Following the pursuit, officers located the pony's owner, who expressed significant relief at its safe return. "We are glad this little adventure seeker is back home safe and done hoofin’ around," the San Jose Police Department stated in a social media post accompanying photos and video of the event.

Shetland ponies, known for their small stature and muscular build, originated in Scotland. While they can be good pets, experts note they require a commitment similar to full-sized horses, including adequate space and veterinary care.
