Sharon Horgan, known for her honest and humorous work on shows like "Motherland" and "Catastrophe," is back with a new semi-autobiographical comedy-drama titled "Youth," now streaming on HBO Max. The series, which Horgan co-wrote and stars in, delves into the anxieties surrounding aging, particularly for women.

Horgan, 56, reportedly channels her own fears about getting older into the show's protagonist, Alex. The narrative portrays Alex experiencing a crisis of self-confidence as she navigates the challenges of middle age. The series "is stark with fear, screaming, 'Have I lost my looks? Alex's life in "Youth" is depicted as a struggle on multiple fronts. Her bookshop has failed, forcing her to work as a literary agent for her best friend, a job that involves managing difficult clients who are described as drunks, bullies, or borderline senile.
