Todd Lloyd and his son, Flynn, experienced a prolonged and unsettling encounter with a 2.5-meter shark that stalked their small fishing boat for approximately half an hour near Windang Island on Australia's New South Wales coast.

The shark circled the vessel multiple times, repeatedly nudging the boat and its motor, according to footage captured by the pair. Flynn Lloyd described the experience to WIN News Illawarra, noting that while they had seen smaller, harmless sharks before, this was their first encounter with a large predator actively engaging with their boat.

"I've only ever seen the little pretty harmless sharks, they're not very scary, but that one was definitely one you wouldn't want to see unless you're on a boat," Flynn said. The video shows the shark biting at the boat's motor and colliding with the hull.

"We've just been fishing around here, there's some good fish, then for the last half an hour we've been stalked," Flynn stated in the clip. Post-encounter inspections of the boat revealed teeth marks on the engine.

Mr. Lloyd expressed surprise at the shark's persistence, noting it "wouldn't leave" their boat alone. Flynn advised other fishers to exercise caution due to the high level of marine activity and the aggressive nature of such sharks.

Commenters on the video suggested the shark was a mako, a species known for its aggression, although attacks on humans are uncommon as they typically avoid shallow waters.

Other social media users shared similar experiences, with one recounting a mako shark biting their motor and leaving teeth marks, speculating that a berley bucket might have attracted it. Another user shared a story about an encounter with a great white shark while fishing in Sydney.
