Shane Gillis' Ex-Girlfriend Weighs In on His 'SNL' Monologue
Grace Brassel subtly criticized Gillis' controversial remarks about women at the gym.
Shane Gillis' former girlfriend, Grace Brassel, has seemingly responded to the comedian's controversial "Saturday Night Live" monologue that targeted female gymgoers.
Brassel reposted a video of actor Dan Levy criticizing Gillis' remarks, adding the caption, "ANYWAYS… y’all need anything from the store?" She further commented on the situation by sharing a gym selfie with the text "fitcheck!" overlaid.
Later, Brassel posted an Instagram Reel showcasing her workout routine with the caption, "Fully body workout for my hoes." This appears to be a direct reference to Gillis' monologue during his "SNL" hosting debut on Saturday. The comedian, 38, faced significant backlash for his comments, including remarks about women's gym attire.
"I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t realize women just dressed like whores now," Gillis stated during his monologue. "Look, I’m sorry there’s no other way to describe it. Have you seen it, I’ve seen it." He continued his critique, remarking on the shorts women wear, describing them as "neon, they’re like artificial bait color. The wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole."
Gillis and Brassel confirmed their relationship in July 2024 and reportedly ended it about a year later.
The comedian's monologue has drawn criticism from various public figures, including Jenna Bush Hager, Kathy Griffin, Dan Levy, and several "SNL" alumni. Bush Hager commented on "Today With Jenna & Sheinelle" that Gillis' jokes "perpetuate what is happening in our culture where people are commenting on women’s M, E. (2022).
