Shane Gillis' Ex-Girlfriend Mocks Comedian's 'Misogynistic' SNL Monologue
Grace Brassel humorously addressed comedian Shane Gillis's recent Saturday Night Live remarks about women at the gym.
Grace Brassel, the ex-girlfriend of comedian Shane Gillis, has responded to his recent Saturday Night Live monologue, which included remarks about women at the gym, by posting a series of humorous videos on Instagram. Gillis, 38, who was guest-hosting SNL, made a joke stating that female gymgoers "just dress like w****s now."
In response, Brassel shared a video of herself at the gym with the text overlay "Full Body Workout for Hes." She introduced the clip by jokingly saying, "Here's my super quick full body workout as a big old he at the gym." The video concluded with her encouraging viewers to "Be a young h*e and run free. Have fun at the gym."
Brassel also reposted a video from actor Dan Levy, who had criticized Gillis's joke as "misogynistic." She added her own commentary to Levy's video before sharing it to her Instagram Stories. Separately, she posted a gym selfie with the caption "Fitcheck!"
This is not the first time Brassel has spoken about her past relationship with Gillis. Last week, she shared a video detailing how the relationship "fully stripped me of who I am" and mentioned experiencing "relentless bullying from his fanbase." She expressed a desire to let other women know that "IT GETS BETTER!! And you can do it!" and added that she survived the experience and is "happier."
Gillis's monologue also drew criticism from other public figures. Actress Martha Plimpton called the comedian's remarks "stupid" and suggested he "deserves a spanking from his mama." She also criticized SNL creator Lorne Michaels for surrounding himself with "all white men."
Dan Levy, son of SCTV icon Eugene Levy, strongly condemned Gillis's comments, stating, "Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them ws. It makes the men calling them ws misogynists." He also noted the prevalence of male nipples at the gym compared to women showing their bodies, expressing disbelief that such comments aired on national television.
Former SNL cast member Ego Nwodim also weighed in by posting a mirror selfie from the gym with the caption "w**** reporting for duty."
Gillis himself previously made headlines in 2019 when he was hired and subsequently fired from SNL due to past podcast clips containing racially insensitive remarks. He later returned to prominence with a stand-up special released in 2023 that achieved international recognition.
Gillis and Brassel reportedly began dating in July 2024 and parted ways last year. IMAGE3
