Seventh Man Arrested in Alleged Terror Plot Near RAF Fairford
A 22-year-old British national was detained in London on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, as investigations into suspicious vehicles near a Royal Air Force base continue.
Counter-Terrorism Policing has arrested a seventh man in connection with a suspected terror plot near the Royal Air Force (RAF) base at Fairford.
The 22-year-old British national was arrested today in Westminster on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts, authorities announced.
This arrest follows the detention of six other suspects, all British men, who were later released on bail. They were initially arrested on Sunday, September 27, after three suspicious vans were stopped near the airbase in Gloucestershire.
Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, Vicki Evans, stated that the investigation remains active. "This remains a live investigation and our specialist teams continue to pursue multiple lines of inquiry into the circumstances surrounding events near RAF Fairford," Evans said. "We're acutely aware of the public interest in this investigation, and we are working around the clock, and at pace, to identify the motivation behind events in Gloucestershire. We remain committed to investigating all possible angles."
Authorities are urging the public for continued support and patience as they navigate the complex investigation.
The nature of the alleged plot and the specific motivation behind the events are still under investigation.
RAF Fairford is a Royal Air Force station in Gloucestershire, England, which has hosted U.S. Air Force B-1 bombers during exercises.
