Seven teenagers have been charged with murder in connection with the fatal assault and alleged carjacking of a 27-year-old man in Brisbane, Australia. The group, including two girls aged 14 and 15, had their charges upgraded after the victim, identified as Oliver Conroy, died from injuries sustained in the incident.

According to reports, police allege that at least two of the female teenagers arranged a fake date with Conroy using the social media app Snapchat. Conroy was allegedly lured to the Kelvin Grove State College staff car park on July 24 at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Authorities claim Conroy was punched and kicked after arriving for the meeting. One of the teenagers allegedly filmed the assault, during which Conroy was reportedly put in a headlock and struck with his own motorcycle helmet. Police further allege that Conroy held onto his blue hybrid ute, a 2025 BYD Shark 6, as the group attempted to flee in the vehicle, resulting in him being dragged nearly one kilometer before falling and being run over. He was discovered in the car park by emergency services and taken to the hospital, where he died on August 6, nearly two weeks after the alleged assault.

The case brings the total number of juveniles charged with murder under Queensland's 'adult crime, adult time' laws to 11, and marks the first instance of female juveniles being charged with murder under the legislation.

Five boys aged 15 to 17 and the two girls were each charged with murder on Thursday, a week after Conroy's death. A 17-year-old boy appeared by videolink at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded into custody, with his next appearance scheduled for August 24. Six co-accused, who did not appear in court, were also remanded and their matters adjourned until September 1.

Queensland Police are appealing for dashcam and CCTV footage from Kelvin Grove's Victoria Park Road between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on July 24, and from Holland Park West's Barter Avenue between 11:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. They are also seeking witnesses and footage from Kelvin Grove Road, near the Musk Avenue intersection, between 8:10 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. Specifically, police are looking to speak with the drivers of a dark-colored SUV seen on Victoria Park Road at 10:15 p.m. and a blue sedan seen at the Victoria Park Road and Carroway Street intersection at 10:16 p.m. on the night of the incident.
