Seth Meyers, host of NBC's "Late Night," has focused on a particular detail from former President Donald Trump's recent announcement renaming Lake Ontario to "Lake America." Meyers described the act as "real dork shit," suggesting it demonstrates an inability to achieve meaningful results.

During the "Late Night" show's summer hiatus, Meyers addressed the executive order in a weekly online update. He expressed his particular dislike for the way Trump physically altered the document in a video announcing the change. According to Meyers, Trump crossed out both the words "lake" and "Ontario" before writing in "Lake America." Meyers questioned the necessity of crossing out "lake" in addition to "Ontario," asking, "Why not just cross out Ontario and write America?"

The renaming effort, which mirrors Trump's previous "Gulf of America" designation for the Gulf of Mexico, holds no official standing with international bodies or private entities. Meyers characterized such actions as the work of "dorks" who "can't actually accomplish anything" and whose efforts are "nobody cares" about, adding that "Everybody can see it for what it is."
