Serial killer James Desborough preyed on vulnerable homeless men, cutting up and burning their victims before dumping the remains in woodland near his home, a court has heard.

Prosecutors believe Desborough killed Daniel Coleman and Claudio Aquilino. Aquilino is believed to have been dead for weeks, while Coleman was last seen alive on June 3. The pair had reportedly spent the day drinking in Truro and Falmouth before returning to Paramoor Woods by bus. Coleman made his final call to his grandmother that evening.

Coleman, who had a history of trauma including being kidnapped and stabbed at 13, had been assaulted multiple times as an adult. He had also lived at Sandy Lodge in Newquay before losing his accommodation and subsequently spending time living on Desborough's land near Sticker.

His younger brother, Tony Nye, remembered Coleman as a "loving, caring, kind, friendly, funny" individual who was also an "amazing singer" and "cook." Despite facing trauma and alcohol-related health issues, Coleman maintained a close relationship with his family, especially his grandmother, whom he called daily.

Coleman's family last heard from him when he called his grandmother on the evening of June 3. Prosecutors believe Desborough likely killed him in the early hours of the following day.

Evidence presented in court suggested that Desborough dismembered and burned his victims. Investigators discovered remains in woodland near his property, along with items like a green petrol can and an exercise bike.

Rebecca and Tony Nye, Coleman's sister and brother, described him as having a difficult life marked by trauma but noted his enduring love for his family. They recalled his daily calls to his grandmother and his unique talents.
