Sen. Bernie Moreno has accused his former son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller, of holding his two-year-old granddaughter's stuffed animal hostage for 48 hours. Moreno, a Republican senator from Ohio, stated that the congressman's actions demonstrated "total and complete depravity" and described the family's experience as being in "the seventh level of hell."
Moreno's granddaughter reportedly could not sleep without her "little blue bunny," according to her grandfather. Moreno claimed that Miller refused to return the stuffed animal for two days, causing the child distress. The toy was reportedly returned on Sunday, the same day Miller's attorney released digital files, which included a shirtless photo of the child, in an effort to defend the congressman against allegations of abusive behavior.
Moreno, who has publicly called for Miller to resign from Congress, stated on Capitol Hill that the situation has been "brutal beyond comprehension." He asserted that if there is a minimum standard for elected officials, Miller fails to meet it.
The senator recounted having to pick up his granddaughter himself, citing concerns about interacting with Miller. He mentioned meeting Miller at the Bay Village Police Station, indicating a level of distrust.
Moreno's public statements against his former son-in-law began on Sunday, when he first called for Miller's resignation. The senator's recent allegations add a new dimension to the ongoing dispute between the two.
