Athos Salomé, a Brazilian individual who claims the moniker ‘Living Nostradamus,’ has stated that two of his predictions for 2026 have come to pass, including the conflict between Iran and Israel and Spain's World Cup victory. Salomé is now drawing attention to another forecast concerning a potential confrontation between Russia and NATO in the Arctic Circle.
Salomé's warning centers on the Arctic region, which he believes is becoming increasingly volatile due to melting ice that is opening new shipping routes and access to significant energy reserves. This geopolitical shift, he asserts, heightens the risk of conflict.
His concerns align with recent developments, including NATO's Arctic Sentry operation and reports of Russia deploying missile systems to strategic Arctic locations. Both Russia and NATO have been expanding their military presence in the region, deploying additional troops and continuing to build up their forces.
This prediction follows Salomé's release of ten forecasts for 2026 in December. One of these predicted that Middle East tensions would reach a critical point in the second quarter of the year, exacerbated by disputes over Iran's uranium enrichment program. Salomé now attributes the conflict between Iran and Israel to this prophecy.
He also claimed credit for forecasting Spain's World Cup victory, stating that the winning country's colors would be associated with fire. While his initial list of potential winners included several nations, he identified Spain as the most probable champion, a claim he made after Spain's 1-0 win over Argentina.
Beyond the Arctic, Salomé also identified Africa's Sahel region as another potential area of heightened instability. He warned that extremist groups in northern Niger could draw rival global powers into an indirect conflict, particularly following the withdrawal of Western troops. This forecast was reported by Tyla.
In late 2025, Salomé issued a broader set of predictions for the subsequent year, forecasting prolonged global conflicts without decisive outcomes, and intensified cyberattacks, disease outbreaks, and natural disasters. He specifically anticipated a stalemate in the Russia-Ukraine war, with neither side achieving a formal peace treaty. European nations were cautioned to remain vigilant against further attacks disrupting reconstruction efforts.
In East Asia, Salomé foresaw escalating tensions between China and Taiwan that would fall short of a full-scale invasion but would involve prolonged blockades, cyber warfare, financial pressure, and disruptions to semiconductor supplies. He suggested this strategy aimed to exhaust opponents and test international boundaries without initiating all-out war.
West Africa and the Sahel were also highlighted as flashpoints, with predictions of continued instability, terrorism, and mass displacement across Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. Salomé warned that worsening violence and governmental weakness could drive migration towards Europe and the Middle East, impacting food supplies and regional security.
Cybercrime was another significant theme, with Salomé predicting attacks on critical infrastructure such as energy, water, and communication networks in major cities across North America and Western Europe. He also suggested that major events, like the World Cup, could become targets for hackers seeking to sow political and economic chaos.
Regarding public health, Salomé's forecasts included further outbreaks of bird flu, dengue fever, and mpox, expressing concern that strained healthcare systems and limited international funding could impede response efforts.
Increased scrutiny of artificial intelligence was also predicted, with concerns around deepfakes, financial scams, and mass surveillance prompting governments to accelerate regulatory measures.
Finally, Salomé predicted that climate change would contribute to severe heatwaves in southern Europe, flooding in Southeast Asia, drought in Brazil, and worsening water shortages in the Middle East and North Africa.
Salomé stated that he develops his forecasts by analyzing symbolic interpretations, identifying long-term global patterns, and studying Kabbalah. He searches for recurring cycles and coincidences to compare with current events. However, he also acknowledged that his methods are not infallible and described his predictions as interpretations rather than certainties.
