Selena Gomez has opened up about the lasting effects of nicotine vaping on her voice, urging her followers on social media to avoid the habit. In an Instagram story update, Gomez stated that vaping "a lot" made quitting difficult and has permanently altered her vocal quality.

"It's just not worth it," Gomez told her more than 400 million followers. She acknowledged that listeners might find her voice less appealing due to the change, adding with a laugh, "So if you guys don't like listening to my voice, that's totally understandable. I don't mind... Just don't listen to it."

Gomez expressed hope that she can maintain her sobriety from vaping, admitting the process is challenging but believing others can overcome similar struggles. This disclosure comes approximately 10 months after she vaguely addressed speculation about her voice's tonal shift during an Instagram Live session last year. At that time, she mentioned experiencing throat swelling, without specifying a cause.

The actress, known for her roles in "Only Murders in the Building" and for her advocacy through the Rare Impact Fund, has previously been open about her health challenges, including lupus and bipolar disorder. Her show, "Only Murders in the Building," is scheduled to return for its sixth season in London on December 8.
