Secretly Recorded Jail Call Reveals Gun Offer, Defendant's Account of Killings in Murder Trial

A secretly recorded jailhouse call revealed Beau Lamarre-Condon's offer to procure a gun for $10,000 and his recounting of events surrounding the alleged murders of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, the court heard Monday.

Lamarre-Condon, who has pleaded not guilty to the murders, was speaking to a friend at Silverwater Correctional Centre on December 14, 2024, ten months after the deaths of Baird and Davies. The conversation, which lasted about an hour, was played in court.

The friend, who cannot be named for legal reasons, testified that Lamarre-Condon had allegedly confessed the murders to him on February 19, 2024. He also claimed that Lamarre-Condon asked him to help clean the crime scene and dispose of the bodies on the day of the alleged killings.

During the recorded jail call, Lamarre-Condon told his friend to 'bring your big boy diapers,' which the friend understood to mean Lamarre-Condon was anticipating making uncomfortable statements during their in-person meeting later that day. By this time, the friend had already provided three statements to the police, a fact Lamarre-Condon was aware of.

In the recorded conversation, Lamarre-Condon could be heard calling his friend 'dumb' and suggesting he had a poor memory and was unreliable. "This is the annoying thing about you, I love you, but if I was going to tell a story to [my other friends], they're more likely to get it accurate," Lamarre-Condon said. "Sometimes, you don't pay much attention, because it's not important to you, and that's an honest mistake, it's not intentional."

The friend expressed frustration, stating that Lamarre-Condon had put him in a 'difficult situation' by allegedly asking for his help on the day of the murders, saying, 'I've killed people'. Lamarre-Condon repeatedly stated, 'I know you're not a liar,' while characterizing the friend as 'human' and inexperienced, prone to making mistakes. "I didn't even f***ing do it. Use your brain," Lamarre-Condon could be heard saying in the recording.

At one point, the friend attempted to leave the meeting, but Lamarre-Condon told him to 'Breathe. Stop. Breathe.' Lamarre-Condon insisted he was 'taking accountability' for his role in the deaths and for involving his friend.

"All this could have been avoided, and it's because of your choices," the friend responded. Lamarre-Condon replied, "I know! That's why I've taken accountability ... F***ing hear me out."

Lamarre-Condon then began to describe events after he entered Baird's house, pausing to say, "maybe I shouldn't say that..." He mentioned awareness of Baird moving house and that he went to say hello, but there was no answer. "I go into the kitchen...actually, maybe I shouldn't talk about that... Let's say this, if you were at your house and you thought you were being robbed, would you f***ing kick off?" Lamarre-Condon asked.

The friend then began to speak about Luke Davies also being in the house before he apparently started to walk away from Lamarre-Condon.

Lamarre-Condon called out, "Can you come back here?" The friend replied, "Yeah, I'm sitting here getting more and more frustrated and I'm this close to leaving." When Lamarre-Condon asked, "Why are you leaving?" he resumed detailing his version of events, including that Baird had broken up with him, he was upset, and "had a cry like you do with friends."

"S**t went wrong and that's my fault and I am taking the blame for it," Lamarre-Condon stated. The friend questioned the veracity of Lamarre-Condon's account, asking, "What you're telling me might not be the truth, but how do I know? I'm only getting my information from you."

The friend also pointed out that Lamarre-Condon allegedly broke into Baird's home without permission that day. Under cross-examination, the friend confirmed he was wearing a recording device during the conversation to assist the police. When Lamarre-Condon asked if he was wearing a wire, the friend denied it.
