Second School Attack in Poland Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
A 15-year-old former student is in custody after fatally stabbing a school employee and wounding two others, marking the second violent incident at a Polish school in as many days.
A 15-year-old former pupil killed one person and injured two others at a Polish school on Thursday, police said. The attack occurred in Leszczydol-Nowiny, in Wyszkow County, northeast of Warsaw, around 9:00 a.m.
Despite resuscitation efforts, the life of a 37-year-old school employee could not be saved, police announced on X. Among the injured is the principal, who apprehended the 15-year-old suspect. Police arrived at the scene within minutes of the report.
The incident followed a separate attack on Wednesday in Ostroleka, northeastern Poland, where a 19-year-old wounded 10 people at a school. The suspect in that case, who was also injured, was detained by police shortly after the incident.
In response to the growing concern over school safety, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski stated that police in Sierpc, north-central Poland, detained a 17-year-old who was allegedly planning an attack. Officers found two knives in the suspect's backpack.
