Authorities have arrested a second individual in connection with an attempted murder that occurred on the Bristol to Bath Railway Path. The victim, a man in his 30s, sustained injuries believed to be from a bladed weapon during the incident on Tuesday evening near Bitton.
An initial arrest of a teenager was made on the night of the attack. A second suspect was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon. Both individuals have since been released on conditional bail as the investigation continues, according to Avon and Somerset Police.
Insp. Barny Mabbett stated that uniformed officers are increasing patrols along the railway path to provide reassurance to the public. "We recognise an incident like this does inevitably cause concern," Mabbett said. The police investigation into the circumstances of the attack is ongoing, and efforts are being made in collaboration with other organizations to ensure the long-term safety of the path for its users.
